A Pooles Corner electrical company has been awarded the contract to hook the solar array into the electrical system at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague.

The announcement was made during Three Rivers’ regular council meeting Monday evening.

AMAC Electric 2004 Ltd presented the successful bid of $28,200 plus HST for the work which will allow the centre to begin harnessing the power of the sun to generate up to 75 per cent of the electricity needed to make ice and run the building’s circuits.

Aspin Kemp & Associates (AKA) just finished installing the 576 solar panels needed to meet the centre’s electrical demands. Theirs was the only other bid considered, at an estimated cost of $61,966 plus HST.

AKA, a pioneer in the field of renewable energy and green marine power systems, indicated they weren't necessarily the contractor to complete the electrical work required to connect the solar array to the centre’s electrical room.

AMAC is expected to have the electrical hookups completed by August 2.
