Daggett

Andrew Daggett, CAO for the Town of Montague prior to amalgamation, said he did not resign from his administrative job as Development Officer with Three Rivers.

“I won’t go into great detail as this is now a legal matter, but what I can confirm is that I absolutely did not resign from Three Rivers; my employment was terminated,” Mr Daggett said.

Mr Daggett said he was offered the job of Manager of Corporate Services but did not feel he had the financial training skills listed foremost in the job description. The duties of Development Officer were also rolled into the position as “a package deal,” he said.

“I am not a finance person and do not have the required background to do that position. I wouldn’t take a long-term job just to collect a cheque until I found something else."

After he declined the Corporate Services position Mr Daggett received a letter dated May 7 stating the Town of Three Rivers had accepted his resignation, which Mr Daggett said he had not tendered.

“My employment was done effective the end of the day.”

Both Mr Daggett and the town have sought legal counsel on the matter.
