Eastern School District Superintendent Ricky Hood will be retiring - again - at the end of this school year.
“I actually retired three years ago and was asked to consider taking the position that I have now, so I did that. The timing is right for me."
Mr Hood said he has enjoyed his time as superintendent.
“It’s been great. Great working with the staff and getting to know a number of the parents, and trying to improve student learning and student achievement where we can.”
He said he has been proud to work with other staff to focus on student achievement and support teachers in the classroom.
Before he became superintendent, Mr Hood was the director of school development and spent 20 of his 36 career years in the school board office.
Over that time there have been huge changes in technology which have improved the classroom, he said.
“You go back 36 years and you didn’t have photocopiers, you didn’t have email, you didn’t have computers or laptops. That really has been something that’s evolved very quickly, you’re talking about that evolving, really, in a generation, which has opened up the classroom and opened up the world to our students.”
